Heritage Open Days 2009 Heritage Open Days The European Heritage Days
Thursday 10th to Sunday 13th September 2009

Heritage Open Days 2009 was a great success, attracting over 15,000 visitors to the 79 FREE events that were staged across the county. 34% of those visitors had not been to a HOD event before and over 90% of all visitors noted that they had enjoyed their visit "a great deal".

Over 400 volunteers were involved in organising and running Heritage Open Days events in 2009 and Heritage Lincolnshire is very grateful for their commitment, energy and imagination in staging their events and activities. Thank you!

Planning now begins for Heritage Open Days 2010!

9th to 12th September 2010 :: Lincolnshire at War - through the ages

The Lincolnshire Heritage Open Days Steering Group has begun the massive task of approaching potential event organisers for the 2010 programme. The theme for 2010 will be "Lincolnshire at War - through the ages" and we are looking to fill around half of the programme with events reflecting that theme. Events can range from special activities at RAF museums, to re-enactments of English Civil War battles to guided tours of our medieval castle sites.

We are also very interested in highlighting the social history of war by including events that concentrate on the memories and experiences of people in Lincolnshire.

The other half of the programme will contain events and activities which have been popular in the past and new events offering opportunities to visit places not usually open to the public. All events will be FREE of charge to all visitors and will celebrate the local heritage of Lincolnshire.

If you are interested in offering an event for Heritage Open Days 2010 please contact our Heritage Open Days team on 01529 461499 or email hod@lincsheritage.org

Heritage Lincolnshire is also piloting a new scheme for young people in 2010 and is encouraging groups of those aged between 14-25 years to work with a local Heritage Open Day venue or event organiser to design their own event.
