Liz Bates BA (Hons) MA IHBC
Historic Buildings Manager
Liz Bates studied Archaeology and History at Southampton University, where she developed an interest in architectural history. She worked for The National Trust as a Vernacular Buildings Surveyor at the estates of Clumber Park and Gunby Hall and this experience furthered her interest in the way historic buildings offer an insight into the social history and character of a town, village or estate.
Liz then worked within the Department of Manuscripts and Special Collections at Nottingham University where she enjoyed helping students and members of the public further their own research interests by gaining access to the collections.
In 2002 she joined Heritage Lincolnshire as Heritage Development Officer and has been involved in managing our historic sites, organising events and working with volunteers on community heritage projects. In 2005 she took on the post of Historic Buildings Manager and has been busy developing projects to save local historic buildings at risk from dereliction or neglect. She is also keen to involve local people in the work of the Trust and details of current projects can be found here.
